Weekly Summary (11/28/2022): Americans have come back from the Thanksgiving break to some ZT developments that I am thankful to see. Right before the holiday, the DoD released the overall ZT strategy — a game-changer moment. The real takeaway should be that we see the US DoD will move to ZT over the next 5 years, at a minimum. What is the value there? Well, it shows that even an organization that is dedicating a billion dollars to this effort knows it will take nearly half a decade to get to a semblance of ZT. The reality is that achieving that large strategic goal takes time, which the DoD is helping us understand. Moving toward a more realistic ZT posture is a good thing, but it takes time, effort, and money. Even a limitless pot of money and human capital can’t magically make ZT happen overnight. That’s the gospel truth and I am glad we finally see that in a definitive way.
